Meet Gloria!
Gloria is a Form 2 female student. Gloria has been performing very well in class though she feels she can do better than that. She wants to be in first position in her grade and also get the highest score in all her subjects.

Support from Family
Gloria’s mother said that Gloria gets sad and sometimes cries when she gets a 60 percent. However, her mother always encourages her, makes sure she has a torch (flashlight) with batteries for her daughter to study.

Gloria’s mother wakes her up to study and makes sure Gloria has learning materials. In addition, her mother advises her daughter to avoid the company of bad influences and distractions from her goals.
Whenever her daughter passes a test or scores well, her mom tries her best to show that she is happy with Gloria’s performance. Sometimes she purchases a pen, or something small that her daughter needs for studying, to motivate her to do well in class.

Gloria wants to be a nurse one day and she works hard to achieve her goal. The Story Time representative encouraged Gloria to continue working hard and behaving very well, and Gloria’s mother was appreciated for all the efforts she is putting to assist her daughter and encouraged to continue.
Gloria’s Journey in 2025
In May, Gloria achieved the 2nd highest scores in her grade! She is so close to achieving her goal of being the top of the class.
In June, Gloria sat for her Junior Certificate Examination (JCE), a standardized test given by the Malawian government, along with all of her Form 2 classmates.
Finally, when the JCE results came in September of this year, the outstanding performer among the 6 students was Gloria who scooped five B’s in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Life skills. And four C’s in Agriculture, Biology, Chichewa and Geography.
